Will Britton's next start be in Baltimore?

O's pitching prospect Zach Britton made his 10th start for Norfolk last night and pitched well. Now the question is when and where will his next start be and will he be an O's September callup? In an interview with Britton this afternoon, he mentioned that the day of his next start has not been set and he didn't think it would be next Monday, August 30th, his next scheduled day to pitch. That leads me to wonder if the Orioles are considering pushing that next Britton start back two days so he could make it with the Orioles on Sept. 1. It could also mean they just want Britton to get an extra days rest or two this late in the year and he will stay with the Tides. But this is a guy that figures to push for a rotation spot at some point next year, so why not take a look at him now? He will have to be added to the O's 40-man roster at some point before the Rule 5 draft this winter. Britton in 2010: Double-A Bowie: 7-3, 2.48 in 15 games, 14 starts, over 87 IP Triple-A Norfolk: 3-3, 3.09 in 10 games and starts over 55 1/3 IP That is 142 1/3 innings and Britton is likely to pitch 20 or 30 innings over his career-high of 147 in Delmarva in 2008. He threw 140 last year with Frederick. Britton is 10-6, 2.72 overall this year, a very solid season that could end up with him winning the Jim Palmer award as the club's top minor league pitcher. It appears his time in Baltimore is coming. We'll know soon if it's coming this September.
