Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is slated to continue his injury rehabilitation assignment tonight with the advanced Single-A Potomac Nationals, who will host the Frederick Keys for a 7:05 pm game at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Va.
Zimmerman went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple for low Single-A Hagerstown Sunday at Municipal Stadium.
This is certainly a good sign that Zimmerman is scheduled to play in back-to-back games as he looks to return to the lineup for the first time since early April. Zimmerman had abdominal surgery May 3 and has been rehabbing in Florida before these two games this week at the Single-A level.
* Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg returned to San Diego this past weekend as he continues his rehab from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery. He noted on his Twitter account that he had a good couple of days in Florida, as he continues to make progress:
"Week 2 of bullpens done felt much stronger than last week. Time to head back to the west coast!" Strasburg tweeted.
