Zimmerman solid in seven innings at Potomac

First baseman Ryan Zimmerman completed his first rehab assignment in high Single-A Potomac's 4-2 win over Winston-Salem.

Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with a single, double and run scored while playing seven innings at first base. After a single in the first, Zimmerman doubled in the fifth and scored on a Alec Keller single.

Zimmerman is expected to be with Potomac through Saturday's game. Nats manager Dusty Baker is hoping to have Zimmerman to return to play in Cleveland on Tuesday. He is recovering from a left rib cage strain.

Here are some more notes and quotes as the Nationals wrapped up their series with the Dodgers:

"I feel pretty good, we've had a couple game that've gotten away from us," Taylor said. "But I feel good about the way we played today. We fought all the way to the end and we'll see what happens going forward."

* Right-hander Stephen Strasburg stuck out 10 batters in six innings Thursday. It was the 29th double-digit strikeout game of his career and eighth of the season. Only Left-hander Clayton Kershaw has more double-digit strikeout games in 2016 with nine.

* Jayson Werth contributed a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning. For Werth, he has now reached base safely in 25 straight games, the longest active streak in the major leagues. It is the fourth-longest on-base streak of his career, his longest being 29 games (8/21-9/20/2015). In these 25 games, Werth has 20 hits and 23 walks.
