A look at the Orioles' strong pitching this season against Boston

In winning six of eight games this season against the Boston Red Sox, the Orioles' pitching has been a big key. The Red Sox have one of the best offenses in baseball - in fact, they lead all of the major leagues in runs scored - but their runs have been hard to come by this year against Baltimore pitching. Boston has scored just 22 runs in eight games against the O's staff for an average of 2.8 per game. They have averaged 5.2 runs per game in their 96 games against everyone else. The Red Sox are third in the majors with a batting average of .273, but the Sox are hitting just .187 against Orioles pitching in 2013. Again, the O's staff has done that against the team that leads Major League Baseball in runs, OBP, OPS and doubles. Jacoby Ellsbury is 7-for-34 (.206), David Ortiz is 3-for-19 (.158) and Dustin Pedroia is 5-for-26 (.192) against Baltimore pitching.
