The offseason free agency talk continues centering around the Nationals' biggest free agent of their young history in outfielder Bryce Harper.
The Washington Post reported a couple of weeks ago an offer to Harper of $300 million over 10 years with no player opt-outs.
The New York Post reported this weekend the latest rumor about the possibility of big-name players such as Harper and another current free agent, Manny Machado, going to the same team, say the Phillies.
But how remote is the shot...

The stadium plans to be operational for the 2020 campaign, beginning April 1, 2020, and will cost $35 million to build. The agreement reportedly calls for the Silber family, which owns the P-Nats,...
The Nationals like what they have seen from a pair of infielders from Venezuela in their system.
Second baseman Andruw Monasterio came over from the Chicago Cubs late last season in the trade for Daniel Murphy. The 21-year-old from Caracas played 13 games for high Single-A Potomac. Nationals hitting coordinator Troy Gingrich laid eyes on him there and worked with him at instructional league. He was impressed with the youngster.
"He has a lot of ability, things he does well, certainly a good...

Nationals hitting coordinator Troy Gingrich said Antuna did some stretching and strength training, but no baseball-related activities yet. Right-hander Trevor Rosenthal officially joined the Nationals this week. He sat out last season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. He arrives with the Nats after six seasons pitching for the Cardinals.
His pitching repertoire over the years has included a four-seam fastball, circle grip changeup, slider (or cutter) and a curveball. As he finally returns to pitching in the big leagues, Rosenthal said he won't make any major changes to the type of pitches he throws.
"I am pretty much...
It was a bit of a surprise Friday that the Houston Astros did not extend a qualifying offer to veteran hurler Charlie Morton. Morton, 34, was a 2017 World Series champion and a 2018 All-Star for Houston. He turns 35 on Nov. 12. Morton went 15-3 with a 3.13 ERA in 30 starts this season. With roots in New Jersey and Delaware, it has been reported that Morton, if the Astros did not re-sign him, might prefer a team along the Eastern seaboard as his next destination.
Could the Nationals be a...

"All three are right-handers, starter types. They are beyond puppies, but they've got quite an upside."
Pedro Gonzalez, 18, has pitched 19...
