Dylan Bundy pitches five innings for first time as a pro

For the first time in his pro career, Dylan Bundy pitched five innings tonight. He also allowed two hits for the first time and one run, but it was unearned against Lakewood. Bundy left in a 1-1 tie so he will not get a win or loss tonight and his ERA remains 0.00 through 25 innings for the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds. Bundy came into this outing having allowed just two hits in his first 20 pro innings. But Lakewood left fielder Gauntlett Eldemire came up with a leadoff single on the 10th pitch of his first-inning at-bat. He then stole second, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball charged to catcher Gabriel Lino. The passed ball made the run unearned. Bundy hit a batter with two outs, but did not allow a run in the top of the second. He then pitched 1-2-3 innings against the BlueClaws in the third and fourth frames. He gave up a leadoff single in the top of the fifth but then got the next three hitters on a pop out, flyout and strikeout to end his outing at Perdue Stadium. Bundy tonight: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K Bundy on the year: 25 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 36 K Bundy gave up an unearned run over three innings in his last start before tonight. South Atlantic League batters are now just 4-for-79 against the Orioles' 2011 top draft pick for an average of .051. Bundy will likely next pitch on Sunday at Hagerstown, barring any Shorebird rotation changes or rainouts between now and then.
