Five "Orioles Classics" to air on MASN this week

I've got good news, Birdland.

Matt-Wieters_Home-Dugout-Cropped.jpgWhile we rejoice in the return of live Grapefruit League baseball, be sure to catch five "Orioles Classics" this week.

Here's what's on deck:

Monday, March 2, 1 p.m.: Oriole Park at Camden Yards has been the home of the Orioles since 1992, but many fans still have memories from Memorial Stadium. On Oct. 6, 1991, the Orioles played their final game at the ballpark on 33rd Street. Although the Orioles lost 7-1 to the Tigers, Baltimore fans came out to celebrate the beloved stadium's last O's game.

Tuesday, March 3, 9 a.m.: Watch the White Sox and Orioles square off in Game 4 of the 1983 American League Championship Series. After nine innings, the game was in a scoreless tie. In the top of the 10th, the Orioles scored three runs to clinch the ALCS, three games to one. Tippy Martinez eared the win for the Orioles.

Wednesday, March 4, midnight and 2 p.m.: If you're still awake, watch a Battle of the Beltways game from 2012. In the June 24, 2012 edition of the interleague series, catcher Matt Wieters hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to send the Birds to a win over the mid-Atlantic rival Nationals.

At 2 p.m., watch the first game played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The home of the Orioles opened its doors for its first official game on April 6, 1992. The Orioles beat the Indians 2-0 to officially christen their new home with a win. Chris Hoiles and Billy Ripken drove in back-to-back runs in the fifth inning, while Rick Sutcliffe pitched a complete-game shutout.

Thursday, March 5, 1:30 p.m.: Jason Hammel made his first career start in an Orioles uniform on April 8, 2012. Did you know he carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Twins? Hammel ended up giving up one earned run, but the Orioles won the game 3-1 behind RBIs from J.J. Hardy and Wilson Betemit.

Morning notes on Janish, Wieters and the pitching ...
O's don't steal much, but maybe Everth Cabrera can...
