Game 100 lineups: Nats vs. Brewers (with roster moves)

The Nationals have recalled left-hander Sammy Solis from Triple-A Syracuse and placed right-hander Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow nerve impingement, retroactive to July 24.

Strasburg would be eligible to return Aug. 4 at Chicago against the Cubs.

It is interesting to note, however, that Strasburg was placed on the disabled list with an elbow nerve impingement. Previously the Nationals had termed it a forearm injury. Elbow injuries in pitchers, especially those pitchers who have had previous Tommy John surgery, can be a bit of a red flag.

Solis went 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in six games with Syracuse. He missed 65 games from April 19 to July 1 with left elbow inflammation. Strasburg is 10-3 with a 3.25 ERA in 20 starts this season.

Right-hander Erick Fedde will be called up Saturday for his first major league start.

Max Scherzer front white.jpgRight-hander Max Scherzer (11-5, 2.26 ERA) faces off against right-hander Michael Blazek in today's series finale. Scherzer is 1-2 with a 2.65 ERA in six career games against Milwaukee. Scheduled Brewers starter Matt Garza was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a calf injury. Blazek has a 3.18 ERA in five career appearances against the Nationals.

The Brewers added bullpen depth with the acquisition of reliever Anthony Swarzak in a trade with the White Sox on Wednesday. The Milwaukee bullpen allowed six runs in the eighth inning Wednesday night.

Bryce Harper puts a career-high 18-game hit streak on the line for the Nats.
