Game moves to the 11th inning (O's win 5-3 in 12 innings)

BOSTON - The Orioles are trying to improve on their 7-5 record in extra innings, and they don't care how long it takes. Tonight's game has moved to the top of the 11th inning with the score tied 3-3. Tommy Hunter allowed a leadoff bloop single to Shane Victorino in the bottom of the 10th, but David Ortiz grounded into a rare 6-5-3 double play. That sort of thing happens when the infield shifts. Ortiz was 7-for-23 with a double and three homers against Hunter. He's 1-for-20 with 12 strikeouts against Brian Matusz, but the Orioles' bullpen was quiet. Speaking of the bullpen, it's allowed no runs and three hits in 8 1/3 innings in this series, with no walks and 10 strikeouts. T.J. McFarland is warming in the 'pen. He threw an inning last night. Still no Darren O'Day. The top three hitters in the Orioles lineup are 0-for-15 with seven strikeouts. The Orioles haven't committed an error tonight. They're currently tied with the 2008 Astros for most errorless games (113) in a season since 1900. Update: The Orioles loaded the bases against Boston left-hander Franklin Morales with one out in the 12th on singles by J.J. Hardy and Brian Roberts, a wild pitch and an intentional walk to pinch-hitter Steve Pearce. Manny Machado popped up, but Chris Davis grounded a 1-2 pitch up the middle for a two-run single. The top three hitters in the Orioles lineup are 1-for-17 with two RBIs, a walk and seven strikeouts. Pearce over Michael Morse? Interesting. Jim Johnson will try for his 47th save. Update II: Game over. Johnson strands Milton Bradley Jr. on first base and gets his 47th save, as the Orioles defeat the Red Sox 5-3 to take the first two games of this series. The Orioles are 81-70 overall and 8-5 in extra-inning games. They now have 114 errorless games, the most since 1900.
