Lindstrom has successful minor league start

SARASOTA, Fla. - Matt Lindstrom just returned to the Ed Smith Stadium complex after starting a 10 a.m. game against the Orioles' Triple-A team at Twin Lakes Park. Lindstrom faced four batters and struck out two of them, including third baseman Josh Bell on a backdoor slider after getting ahead in the count with his splitter. He also induced a ground ball and a fly ball. "The first three got themselves out pretty quick," Lindstrom said. Lindstrom said he used all of his pitches and didn't feel any discomfort in his right leg. "I think that's a good indication of me being ready for the season," he said. "They told me at 9 a.m. that I'd be pitching at 10, and I didn't have a lot of time to get ready. "It was a good test. I didn't feel it pushing off or anything." Meanwhile, left-hander Brian Matusz will start for the Orioles and go five innings in Wednesday's exhibition game against Triple-A Norfolk at Twin Lakes Park. He'll be working on normal rest.
