O's game blog: Looking for a win in the road trip finale

The Orioles wrap up this quick two-game series and their five-game, two-city road trip this afternoon when they again play the Miami Marlins. The Orioles won 7-5 last night and are 3-1 on this trip, which began in Texas.

The Orioles are now 3-3 in series openers, and a win today would leave them 3-1 in road series.

Lefty Bruce Zimmermann (1-1, 4.24 ERA) gets the start, his fourth of this season. Zimmermann has two quality starts and has gone six innings twice. For the season, he's allowed 17 hits and eight runs over 17 innings, with five walks and 11 strikeouts. He has recorded 1.294 WHIP and averages 2.6 walks and 5.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

In his last game, against Seattle, he went five innings and gave up six hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.

Lefty Trevor Rogers (1-1, 2.40 ERA) will pitch for Miami. He was the Marlins' first-round pick (No. 13 overall) in the 2017 draft

For the season Rogers, 23, has thrown 15 innings and allowed eight hits and four earned runs, with nine walks to 23 strikeouts. That is 1.333 WHIP, with 5.4 walks and 13.8 strikeouts per nine.

Rogers has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all three of his outings, but the Marlins have won just one of the three. He gave up two runs over five innings in his last game, versus Atlanta, throwing 95 pitches.

O's pitching has allowed just nine runs the past four games, 11 in five and 25 runs over the past eight games. Their team ERA is 3.15 in that eight-game span. O's starters have a 2.87 ERA over the past six games.

The O's offense has scored 18 runs in its three wins on this road trip, but got shut out 1-0 in 10 innings in the lone loss on Sunday. Last night the O's scored three runs in the first inning, two in the third and one in the fourth in building an early 6-1 lead.

Trey Mancini, since he went 0-for-4 and struck out four times on Friday night at Texas, is 5-for-10 with a double, homer and two RBIs.

Freddy Galvis was 2-for-3 with a walk and homer last night. Over his past five games, he is 9-for-17 with six extra-base hits, including three doubles, a triple, two homers and three RBIs.

Ryan Mountcastle went 0-for-1 as a pinch-hitter last night and is 0-for-15 his past five games. Rio Ruiz had been 2-for-25 over a nine-game stretch before he went 2-for-4 with two doubles last night, including a two-run double in the opening inning.

The Orioles are now 9-26 all-time versus Miami and 3-13 when playing at Miami.

Baltimore is 7-3 on the road this year and 19-18 in road games since the start of last season.
