O's use two longballs to end one losing streak

They needed that. Held without a single baserunner through four innings tonight by Cleveland's Justin Masterson and trailing 3-1 as they headed to the bottom of the seventh, the O's offense rose up to produce a big inning that ended their four-game losing streak. The five-run seventh lifted the Orioles past Cleveland 6-3 at Camden Yards as Chris Tillman went seven innings to improve to 9-2. Masterson took a three-hitter into the seventh, but hit Adam Jones with the innings's first pitch and then saw Chris Davis hit his second one a long way. Davis' two-run homer to right-center was his 28th of the year to get the game tied 3-3. Davis has hit six homers his last nine games and 17 in the last 37. But the O's were not done there. Matt Wieters walked and Chris Dickerson came up with a check-swing infield hit to put two on for Alexi Casilla. He is not exactly the guy you'd expect to hit one out, but Casilla hit a rocket to right for a three-run homer and 6-3 lead. It was his first homer as an Oriole in his 74th at-bat. Amazingly, his last homer came off Masterson last Aug. 8 when he was with Minnesota. One reason Buck Showalter started Casilla was his good career stats off Masterson. Casilla was 9-for-26 with that one homer and eight RBIs against him before tonight. This was Casilla's 12th major league homer. The O's extended their streak to 13 consecutive games with a homer, a season high. Tillman survived a shaky start to get the win. He allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings, throwing 95 pitches. It was his 10th quality start in the last 13 games and just the second in the last eight games for the O's rotation. Tonight's outing by Tillman was just the 10th this season where an O's starter went seven innings or more and the Orioles are 8-2 in those games. The comeback win ends the losing streak and improves the O's record to 43-35 heading into game three of this four-game series Wednesday night.
