SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles took the field an hour early for their first full-squad workout, beginning their stretching exercises at 11 a.m. The clubhouse never opened to the media.
The schedule changed because so few position players needed to take their physicals this morning. Most of them already had reported.
Second baseman Brian Roberts is on the field. He chatted briefly with pitcher Dylan Bundy before jogging with his teammates.
Reliever Jason Berken isn't participating in today's workout. Manager Buck Showalter indicated that Berken's hamstring injury is a little more serious now than a "tweak" and he's no longer day-to-day. Berken will be sidelined indefinitely.
Berken sustained the injury yesterday during conditioning drills.
Update: Roberts played catch with J.J Hardy before returning to the clubhouse. He didn't participate in infield drills. He'll hit off a tee again, staying with the usual routine.
