Updates on Gonzalez and Pearce

BOSTON - Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzalez, who left his most recent start in the sixth inning with a strained right groin, will play catch today and throw a bullpen session on Thursday. Gonzalez said he's feeling "a lot better." "Yesterday, I was sore, but today I can walk better and move around, so it's progressing a lot better than what I expected," he said. Gonzalez limped off the mound at Rogers Centre with one out in the sixth inning Sunday in a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays. He isn't sure where he's being slotted in the rotation. "I'm just waiting to see what Buck (Showalter) and (Bill) Castro want me to do," he said. "It wasn't that bad. I'm happy I said something early. I don't want to miss a start." Steve Pearce is in the cramped visitor's clubhouse at Fenway Park and he's listed among the reserves for tonight's game against the Red Sox. Pearce received another cortisone injection in his left wrist and swung a bat for a few days in Sarasota. "It feels good," he said. "It feels good to go right now. I'm just glad to be up here and help the team. "It's definitely where I want to be. It's better than being in Sarasota." Pearce is batting .241/.328/.361 with four doubles, three homers and nine RBIs in 38 games. He won't limit his swings or back off the intensity with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season. "Let it eat," he said. "I have the offseason to get ready. I'll do what I can to help the team, so I'll go out there and swing. "It's very exciting. It's hard watching it on TV. I'm glad to be up here and be with the guys. Just feeling the electricity in the dugout and being with your teammates. That's where I want to be."
