Walk-off win: Pedro Alvarez with a sac fly in the 10th for 1-0 victory

After they dueled through nine scoreless innings tonight, the Orioles produced a walk-off win in the last of the 10th against the Yankees.

Hyun Soo Kim led off the 10th with a high-chop infield hit off right-hander Johnny Barbato. Then he advanced to third on Jonathan Schoop's second hit of the night, a single to center. The O's sent out Nolan Reimold to third to pinch-run for Kim and New York went to Andrew Miller to face lefty-hitting Pedro Alvarez.

The Orioles improved to 16-11 on the year, 11-4 at home and 9-5 against the American League East. New York lost for the seventh time in eight games to fall to 9-17. This is the O's third walk-off win of the year.

Earlier, Kevin Gausman threw an absolute gem, but the zeros were matched by New York right-hander Masahiro Tanaka. Gausman dueled with the New York ace looking very much himself like an ace-in-the-making.

For eight innings, it was nothing but scoreless innings on each side. Gausman needed just 37 pitches to get the first nine outs and then just 35 more to get the next nine. He was pitching a three-hitter through eight and Tanaka was pitching a five-hitter on 102 pitches with seven strikeouts.

Gausman's eight-inning outing matched his career high set last Sept. 30 against Toronto. He gave up just two singles and a double with no walks and four strikeouts. He threw 98 pitches, 65 for strikes, and has an ERA of 1.42 through three starts. Yankees hitters were just 3-for-26 against him tonight. Tanaka lowered his ERA to 2.29.

The O's starting rotation has put together a run of seven quality starts over the last nine games with an ERA of 2.95 in that span.

The O's had a chance in the third but left two runners on. In the fourth, Matt Wieters singled and Kim walked with one out. But Schoop grounded into an inning-ending double play.

In the last of the ninth, Mark Trumbo drew a one-out walk off Dellin Betances and Joey Rickard pinch-ran. Wieters then lofted a fly ball to deep right field, but Dustin Ackley leaped at the scoreboard to haul it in and doubled Rickard off first.

The O's long homestand continues Friday night with the Oakland A's in town. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-3, 5.20 ERA) pitches against left-hander Rich Hill (3-3, 2.53 ERA) at 7:05 p.m
