Don't look now, but your cleanup hitter has six RBIs. Miguel Tejada's one-out double in the first inning scored Adam Jones, who reached on an error. Nick Markakis raced home on Luke Scott's grounder. Both runs off Toronto starter Shaun Marcum are unearned. Orioles 2, Blue Jays 0. Anybody want to close out this game today? We're taking volunteers. Tejada, by the way, is 6-for-13 with a homer and six RBIs with runners on base. He's 0-for-9 with the bases empty.
I just spoke with Harrisburg manager Randy Knorr. Strasburg is on an 85-90 pitch count and Jhonatan Solano will catch Stephen today, as he did a lot during spring training. Randy, what are you looking for from Stephen today? "I just want him to go out there and just get the first one over with, relax, and just be himself. I am going to look to see if he goes after it. I hope he is not hesitant. I just want him to go out there and pitch like Stephen can." And Solano will catch for...
In a brief conversation a few minutes ago, O's president Andy MacPhail sounded like a man about to make a roster move that could send Brian Roberts to the disabled list officially later today. "If we err, we'll err on the conservative side. Also, in the not too distant future we're going to hop on a plane from Baltimore to Oakland and from Oakland to Seattle and on to Boston. We are crossing the country twice, so that will play into our decision as well." MacPhail doesn't believe...
Beautiful day here in Altoona, arrived about 15 minutes. There is a horseshoe curve outside Altoona for the railroad, that is why the team is called "Curve", but curveball works as well. The team was almost called Altoona "Fish". Stephen Strasburg faces leftie Rudy Owens. The Sens looking for first win at 0-3. I will blog throughout the game so stay tuned to masnsports.com. Heading down to the clubhouse, I will tell you what I can find out when I get down there. Looking to talk...
Infielder Justin Turner is leaving Triple-A Norfolk and coming to Baltimore today, which would indicate that the Orioles are ready to place second baseman Brian Roberts on the disabled list. Turner's primary position is second. He's also on the 40-man roster. Turner is 2-for-8 with a run scored, two walks and three strikeouts in two games with the Tides. He hit .300 in 108 games with Norfolk last season, and .167 with three RBIs in 12 games as a rookie with the Orioles. Julio Lugo figures...
Koji Uehara will throw 25 pitches off a mound today unless his allergies act up again. Seriously, though, he's finally got a bullpen session scheduled in Sarasota after being restricted to throwing off flat ground. He's eligible to come off the disabled list today, but it won't happen anytime soon. He hasn't faced batters in a long time. Brian Roberts will be reexamined today, and it's possible that the club will place him on the disabled list after today's game. Manager Dave Trembley...
While the Orioles are struggling to hit with runners in scoring position, their Triple-A team in Norfollk had no problem doing that Saturday in a 12-3 romp over Durham. The Tides went 9 for 16 with RISP and left just four men on base. Brandon Snyder had three hits with three RBI and has knocked in five runs the past two games. Robert Andino, in his first game with the Tides, went 2 for 3 with three RBI and Josh Bell had three hits. Snyder is batting .363 and Bell is at .333. Troy Patton is...

Blanked: Last year, the Orioles were shutout ten times. Tonight, they were blanked for the first time in 2010 on six hits by Toronto, 3-0. They went just 6 for 30 at bat, with five singles and one double to drop the team batting average on the year from .237 to .231. The O's went hitless, 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position and are batting just .174 (8 for 46) with RISP on the season. Tonight, they got just one runner past first base after the fourth inning. Last year, the O's...
