Espinosa added to Mexico's provisional roster for WBC (Storen avoids arbitration)

Major League Baseball announced its provisional rosters for the World Baseball Classic this afternoon, and two guys on the Nationals' 40-man roster are in line to participate in the event. Danny Espinosa is on the roster for Team Mexico. Espinosa was born in Santa Ana, Calif., but his father is Mexican. Nats outfielder Roger Bernadina is also set to participate in the WBC; the 28-year-old is on the Netherlands' provisional roster. Team USA's roster does not have any Nats players. Another quick note to pass along: The Astros have signed former Nats outfielder Rick Ankiel to a contract that will bring him to spring training as a non-roster invitee, according to MLB.com. Ankiel will reunite with Bo Porter, who recently served as the Nationals' third base coach and outfield instructor and is now entering his first season as manager of the Astros. With the Nats last season, Ankiel hit .228 with five home runs and 15 RBIs in 68 games. He also unleashed one heck of a throw from center field which goes down as one of my favorite moments from last season. Update: The Nats have avoided arbitration with reliever Drew Storen, agreeing to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with $1 million in performance bonuses. Creative Artists Agency, which represents Storen, announced the deal on Twitter. This is a pretty nice haul for Storen, who made just under $500,000 last season and was arbitration eligible for the first time as a Super Two player.
