PHILADELPHIA - It's a new day, and that can only be a good thing for the Nationals after last night's debacle. They still have an opportunity to win this series against the Phillies, and though their bullpen is pretty taxed at this point, they do have Stephen Strasburg starting this afternoon's finale at Citizens Bank Park.
Strasburg has been electric inside this stadium during his career, going 2-0 with a 1.22 ERA in six starts, with the Nats winning all six of those games. And he was sharp on opening day against the Marlins, so there's every reason to believe he'll deliver another quality start today.
Jeremy Hellickson, who won opening day for the Phillies in Cincinnati, makes his second start of the year. He'll be facing a Nationals lineup missing Trea Turner, whose right hamstring strain is not believed to be serious but will probably sideline him at least a couple of days. Ryan Zimmerman and Matt Wieters are also getting their first days off this season.
Needing a fresh arm to help out that taxed bullpen, the Nats have called up veteran right-hander Matt Albers from Triple-A Syracuse. Jeremy Guthrie was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot.
