LaRoche sitting as Nats shoot for the sweep

Adam LaRoche took a seat on the infield dirt after making a diving stop to end yesterday's game in dramatic fashion. Today, LaRoche will take a seat on the Nationals bench. With the Nats facing Padres left-hander Robbie Erlin (1-1, 4,34 ERA), manager Davey Johnson has opted to rest LaRoche and put another right-handed bat in the lineup. Tyler Moore will get the start at first base today. Jayson Werth will bump up a spot in the order and hit fifth, Anthony Rendon will hit sixth and Moore will bat seventh. Wilson Ramos gets the start behind the plate again today. This will be Ramos' third start in his four days since coming off the disabled list. Stephen Strasburg takes the mound for the Nats this afternoon, looking to improve upon his 4-6 record and 2.24 ERA. Strasburg will face his hometown team for the second time this season; he held the Padres to two runs (one earned) on three hits over eight innings in a win May 16. With a win today, the Nats will sweep the Padres, win their fourth in a row and notch their first three-game sweep since April 9-11 against the White Sox.
