Lidge blows ninth-inning lead (Nats walk off with 3-2 win in 10th)

So much for all the headlines about Gio Gonzalez leading the Nationals to a win in his home debut. Gonzalez won't get a victory in the Nats' home opener despite throwing seven shutout innings, and we've got a tie game here heading to the bottom of the ninth. The Reds tied this game 2-2 in the top-half of the ninth after Ryan Ludwick's single to left plated two runs off Nats closer Brad Lidge. Ludwick's grounder could've been handled by third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, but the ball skipped past Zimmerman's glove and allowed two to score to knot this thing up. Update: We've got extra innings heading our way here in D.C., after the Nats had a golden opportunity to win it in the bottom of the ninth. Washington loaded the bases with just one out on a Wilson Ramos double, Mark DeRosa walk and Ian Desmond infield single, but Danny Espinosa couldn't give the Nats a walk-off win. Espinosa grounded into a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning, and we go to the 10th all knotted at 2-2. After the stellar outing turned in by Gonzalez and the numerous blown chances by the Nats, this would be a tough one to swallow if Washington isn't able to come through in extras. Update II: The Nats earned a wacky 3-2 win in the 10th when Ryan Zimmerman scampered home on an Alfredo Simon wild pitch. Back with more from the clubhouse in a bit.
