Nationals recall right-handed pitcher Ryan Perry, place right-handed pitcher Brad Lidge on disabled list
The Washington Nationals today recalled right-handed pitcher Ryan Perry from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed right-handed pitcher Brad Lidge on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to April 22, with an abdominal wall strain. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Perry went 1-0 with two saves and a 2.00 ERA in eight relief appearances with Syracuse this season. The 25-year-old is 5-6 with two saves and a 4.07 ERA in 149 career big-league games during three seasons (2009-11) with Detroit.
The TigersÂ’ first-round selection (21st overall) in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Perry was acquired from Detroit in exchange for right-handed pitcher Collin Balester on December 9, 2011.
Lidge, 35, has two saves and a 5.14 ERA in seven relief appearances this season with Washington.
