Ohlendorf making Nats debut at Coors Field

The Nationals send right-hander Ross Ohlendorf to the mound at Coors Field tonight, hoping the veteran can square the series at a game apiece in his Washington debut. In three career starts in the Mile High City, Ohlendorf is 1-1 with a 6.94 ERA, having only lasted a combined 11 2/3 innings and yielding four homers in the thin Denver air. Maybe Ohlendorf can use his Princeton education to come up with a game plan to keep the ball in the park. He hasn't pitched in the majors since last year, when he went 4-4 with a 7.77 ERA for the Padres. The Nationals signed the 30-year-old to a minor league contract on Jan. 5. Jeff Kobernus gets his second career big league start tonight, this time in left field. Jhonatan Solano, who spent some time with Ohlendorf at Triple-A Syracuse earlier this season and has an idea of how the 6-foot-4 right-hander likes to work, will be behind the plate. Here's the Nationals lineup: CF Denard Span LF Jeff Kobernus 3B Ryan Zimmerman RF Jayson Werth 1B Adam LaRoche SS Ian Desmond 2B Anthony Rendon C Jhonatan Solano RHP Ross Ohlendorf And for the Rockies: CF Dexter Fowler 2B Jonathan Herrera LF Carlos Gonzalez SS Troy Tulowitzki 1B Todd Helton 3B Nolan Arenado RF Tyler Colvin C Yorvit Torrealba LHP Jorge De La Rosa
