Relive "Nationals Classics": Harper's three-homer night

There's only one "Nationals Classic" on the MASN docket this week, so be sure to tune un at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 (or set your DVR if you're partaking of the second day of Nationals Winterfest at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center).

This week's offering is a game from May 6, 2015, when Bryce Harper sent a midweek Nationals Park crowd of 31,417 into a frenzy with a power display against Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler.

harper walkoff white sidebar.jpg Harper homered three times that night - in his first three at-bats - sandwiching solo shots in the second and fifth innings around a two-run blast in the third. He twice connected to right-center and went deep to left-center on the other longball.

The Nationals slugger finished with a career-high three homers and drove in five runs in the Nationals' 7-5 win, with righty Max Scherzer the beneficiary of the outburst. Yunel Escobar drove in the other two runs.

Suffice it to say that Harper owns Koehler. In his career against the Marlins righty, Harper is 11-for-32 with a .344/.447/.938 slash line. Of his 11 hits, six have been home runs, and Harper's 11 RBIs against Koehler are the most the pitcher has allowed to any single hitter in his career.
