A few odds and ends (w/minor league notes)

Orioles manager Dave Trembley told reporters in Seattle that Lou Montanez could get the majority of the starts in left field because of his mobility, while Nolan Reimold serves as the designated hitter to keep his bat in the lineup. Brian Roberts still hasn't been cleared to perform baseball-related activities after back specialist Dr. Lee Riley examined him today at Johns Hopkins. Roberts is a long way from being ready. MASN's Amber Theoharis also passed along that Koji Uehara threw 35 pitches today in a simulated game in Sarasota. The club hasn't decided on the next step for Uehara, but he'll probably need to pitch in a minor league game before being activated. Garrett Atkins is getting a regular night off. Nothing more to it. Minor league notes: Jake Arrieta has allowed one earned run (two total) and five hits in 4 2/3 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts, and Triple-A Norfolk trails Gwinnett, 2-0. The Tides have committed two errors, including No. 6 for Scott Moore, who's starting again at second base. Shortstop Robert Andino has the other one. Double-A Bowie's Steve Johnson had a rough night in Erie. Johnson allowed five runs and six hits - including three home runs - in four innings. He also walked two, struck out four, threw a wild pitch and hit a batter.
