A look at Chris Davis' hot streak and a few questions for O's fans

In the first inning of the first game of this important road trip, Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to get the Orioles started on a win. In the last inning yesterday, he hit a grand slam to provide another win.

Davis leads the major leagues in strikeouts. Think anyone is still harping on that at this point?

His bat is red-hot and the run production, which some of us said was there early in the year when he was striking out often, is even more apparent now.

Over his last 15 games, Davis is batting .309 (17-for-55) with nine home runs and 26 RBIs. Davis drove in seven runs in the series at Oakland. He has an RBI in six of his last seven games, with 14 total in that span.

In 19 games and 76 at-bats since the All-Star break, Davis is batting .309 with nine homers, 27 RBIs, a .722 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.105.

Davis Jones Wieters gray.jpgThe Orioles have hit four grand slams this year:
* Jonathan Schoop, April 11 against Toronto
* Steve Pearce, May 21 against Seattle
* Chris Davis, July 25 against Tampa Bay
* Chris Davis, Aug. 5 against Oakland

Davis has now hit six career grand slams:
* July 31, 2012 off New York's Ivan Nova
* April 5, 2013 off Minnesota's Tyler Robertson
* June 17, 2014 off Tampa Bay's Erik Bedard
* Aug. 29, 2014 off Minnesota's Trevor May
* July 25, 2015 off Tampa Bay's Erasmo Ramirez
* Aug. 5, 2015 off Oakland's Arnold Leon

While you ponder Davis' red-hot bat and current stats, here are some other questions I'd like to get your responses on today. We've got an entire off day to debate and discuss the following:

* What kind of contract would it take for the Orioles to re-sign Davis?

* Who are your top three contenders for Most Valuable Oriole?

* After their trade deadline moves, is Toronto better positioned than the Orioles to make a run for a wild card spot or at the Yankees for the top spot in the American League East?
