Last Monday, Baseball America released its latest list of the Orioles' top 10 prospects. If you didn't see the list the first time, Dylan Bundy tops it for the fourth straight year.
Here is a look at the list and where those players might start the 2015 season.
1) Dylan Bundy, RHP: Believe it or not, Bundy has pitched 16 2/3 innings in his life at the Double-A level. I expect there is a good chance he returns to the Eastern League and begins the 2015 season with Bowie. He needs to build on his 2014 season where he made a healthy return from Tommy John surgery, starting to get his pre-surgery velocity and form back.
2) Hunter Harvey, RHP: Harvey was shut down in late July with a flexor mass muscle strain in his right forearm. He needs to prove his health as well, and will likely start the year in Single-A Frederick's rotation.
3) Christian Walker, 1B: After 26 homers for Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, Walker can be expected to start the season with the Tides unless the O's don't bring back Chris Davis. That would possibly hasten his move to the majors.
4) Chance Sisco, C: With a .345 batting average in 147 games on the O's farm, the Sisco kid has been impressive. He is expected to start for Frederick at age 20 next April.
5) Dariel Alvarez, OF: Alvarez seems close to major league-ready. Some think he would've been called up in September if the O's were not a playoff team. He will probably begin at Norfolk, but he'll be a phone call away if and when they need an outfielder, and then we will all get to see the big arm we've been hearing about.
6) Zach Davies, RHP: This 21-year-old hurler is on a roll right now in the Arizona Fall League. In his last three starts, he has pitched 13 scoreless innings with 16 strikeouts. Triple-A is calling.
7) Tim Berry, LHP: The former 50th-round pick continues to make steady progress toward the majors. He will probably start at Norfolk and has a chance to make the O's roster during the season.
8) Mike Wright, RHP: You can take what I wrote about Berry and apply it with Wright. Some seem to wonder if his mid-90s velocity and sinking fastball would play well as a late-inning reliever. Maybe we find that out during 2015.
9) Mike Yastrzemski, OF: Did some scouts underrate this guy? Look at the numbers he put up last year as a 14th-round draft pick. Time to see what he can do full-time at Triple-A.
10) Jomar Reyes, 3B: He was impressive at age 17 in the Gulf Coast League, showing two plus tools - arm and power. Would it be pushing things for him to begin 2015 at Single-A Delmarva?
Stat of the day: Today we check out the 2014 American League leaders in most pitches per start:
110.2 - Max Scherzer, Detroit
109.7 - David Price, Detroit
109.2 - Jon Lester, Oakland
106.8 - James Shields, Kansas City
106.5 - Justin Verlander, Detroit
The Orioles pitcher that rated the highest in this stat was Chris Tillman, who averaged 100.3 pitches per start to rank 12th in the AL.
