Adam Jones on returning to the Orioles lineup today

Saying he's "good to go," Adam Jones returns to the Orioles lineup. He has missed the last five games and has not played in the field since June 15, but he will today, starting in center field and batting third in the opener of a day-night doubleheader with Cleveland.

Jones has been out with a sore right shoulder. But he said the soreness was gone three days ago and he's tested the shoulder each of the last three days.

Does he feel 100 percent?

"Yep. Back in the lineup and ready to play," he said. "I missed my teammates and missed being out there in the grind with the guys. They've been playing good baseball, so, let's see if we continue that today.

"Last three days (I tested it throwing) and it's better, so I'm good. I'm ready to play. It was good to have those five days (games) without throwing. I'm good to go. I'm bored."

"No. Not that I thought of. Time heals all wounds," he said.

Are there any limitations he will have to deal with?

"I'm playing center field," he simply said.

In 63 games, Jones is batting .298 with 10 homers, 36 RBIs and an OPS of .832. His last two appearances in the lineup came as the designated hitter on June 19 and 20 at Toronto.

Jones watched his team continue to win during his time out of the lineup.

"The guys have been playing terrific baseball," he said. "I'll use the word efficiency. We've been really efficient the last 10 or 15 days, so let's continue that."

Jones can start a long consecutive-games played streak today, he joked.

"I need to catch Cal now. I've got 16 more years to go," he said.
