Another night, another loss in Oakland for Orioles

It was a familiar script for the Orioles on Saturday night at Oakland: another loss and another night with not much offense. Oakland scored single runs in the second, third, sixth and eighth innings in a 4-2 win over the Orioles, as the A's take the first two games of this series. For the second night in a row the Orioles were held to six hits and once again they failed to produce a single extra-base hit. The Orioles fall to 1-11 in Oakland since the 2008 season and they have been outscored 60-32 in those games. The Orioles have scored two runs or less in eight of those games. The Orioles left 10 runners on base and hit into two more double plays tonight. They've hit it into six in this series.

Brad Bergesen took the loss to fall to 1-6 with a 5.36 ERA. He gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 as the Orioles fell to 1-8 in his starts this season. Adam Jones and Craig Tatum had RBI singles for the Orioles. For Jones, it was his team-leading 29th RBI. Vlad Guerrero went 1-for-4 extending his hitting streak to 13 games, an O's season-high. He is batting .368 (21-for-57) during that streak. The Orioles have now lost two in a row after a five-game win streak to fall to 24-26 after 50 games. They are 9-12 on the road and 4-4 against the American League West. They fall to 4-5 in games decided by two runs. In the series finale, Sunday at 4:07 p.m., Zach Britton (5-2, 2.35 ERA) pitches against right-hander Guillermo Moscoso (1-0, 0.00 ERA), who will be making his second start of the season.
