Are Lee and Guerrero usually slow starters?

I was wondering today if Derrek Lee and Vlad Guerrero have been slow starters in their careers. They have not hit much so far and maybe they are just not good hitters in early-season games. Well, both do have some good stats hitting in April. Lee has a career .270 average and .852 OPS in the month with 51 homers. But maybe the good news is that his April OPS ranks just fifth highest among the six months of the season. So he gets better after April according to his track record. The same is true of Guerrero. While he has a career .318 April batting average, he hits better than that during his career in June, August and September. Plus, Vlad's April OPS of .930 looks and is impressive, but it ranks just fourth-best of the season's six months for him. Lee, career OPS by month: .852 - April .747 - May .938 - June .884 - July .860 - August .904 - September Guerrero, career OPS by month: .930 - April .903 - May .964 - June .906 - July .993 - August .954 - September In the minors, the Triple-A Norfolk Tides have had their scheduled home opener rained out tonight and both Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie have already had today's scheduled home games rained out. For just the second time in the 19-year history of Harbor Park, the Tides' first home game has been postponed. No makeup date has yet been set. The Tides and Charlotte are now scheduled to play a single game Sunday in Norfolk at 1:15 p.m. Frederick will host Salem tomorrow for a scheduled 1 p.m. doubleheader. O's spring training invitee Mitch Atkins is slated to pitch game one as part of a rehab assignment with Bobby Bundy starting game two. Bowie will host Erie for two on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. with Oliver Drake scheduled for game and Tim Bascom for the second contest. It will be Drake's Double-A debut after moving up yesterday from Frederick. In the minors, all doubleheader games are scheduled for seven innings.
