Bird Talk: Looking at prospects, an old Bundy trade rumor and roster advice

The Orioles' are off to one of the hottest starts in spring training. The club has won nine Grapefruit League games and has looked impressive while doing so. I know MASNsports.com has loyal readers, but you may have missed other stories from national outlets. Don't worry, I have you covered. * MLB.com's Bernie Pleskoff took a deeper look at the Orioles' top prospects and how they could benefit the big league club. Kevin Gausman and Jonathan Schoop are two players who could help out the team most quickly. In fact, don't be surprised if both break camp when the Birds fly north for the season. Pleskoff goes as far as projecting a lineup for the 2016 Orioles. Want to read more? Click here. * Speaking of top prospects, MLB Pipeline has revealed its list of the Orioles' top 20 prospects. Teddy Cahill of MLB.com caught up with Schoop at O's camp and asked him three questions. It has been noted here on MASNsports.com and other places how much Schoop has improved. Schoop said he's trying to be a better baseball player all around. Cahill lists his breakout candidate and top camp standout. Are you curious who made the top 20? Thought so. Click here to see who's on the list. * This next story comes from last week's New York Daily News. Andy Martino had an interesting report saying the Mets tried to trade infielder Daniel Murphy to the Orioles in December for top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy. Martino's piece is a profile on Murphy, and even though he isn't an Oriole, it's an interesting read. * Finally, nobody likes to end things on a down note, so I'll leave you with some cautionary advice for the Orioles, courtesy of ESPN's Dan Szymborski. Szymborski believes the Orioles are looking at too many potential designated hitters, which could hurt them in the long run. Currently, the Orioles are considering Delmon Young and Nelson Cruz at DH. (Spoiler alert: Cruz will win.) Szymborski wonders why the O's would continue to look at more, when they have players like David Lough and Nolan Reimold on the roster. That's a wrap of this week's Bird Talk. Make sure to come back to MASNsports.com every day for the latest on the Orioles.
