Both benches warned (O's down 2-1)

Alfredo Simon drilled Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo in the back pocket with a 95 mph fastball in the first inning, and plate umpire Laz Diaz jumped out from behind home plate and issued warnings to both benches. It's fair to assume that Simon was retaliating after Angels starter Ervin Santana hit Nolan Reimold and Mark Reynolds last night. Reynolds was drilled above the left temple, and he's out of today's lineup. Simon walked leadoff hitter Erick Aybar on four pitches, struck out Howie Kendrick and gave up an RBI double to Bobby Abreu. Torii Hunter struck out on a 95 mph fastball for the second out - after moving away from a 94 mph heater above his shoulders - and Simon's next pitch slammed into Trumbo as he turned away from it. Trumbo dropped his bat and jogged to first base without incident. Update: Nick Markakis singled with two outs in the bottom of the first and scored on Vladimir Guerrero's first triple since July 2, 2010. The ball skipped past Hunter, who attempted a sliding catch near the right field line. Update II: Erick Aybar led off the top of the third inning with his nine home run of the season to give the Angels a 2-1 lead. I'm just hoping this game ends in time for me to catch the second half of Monday Night Football.
