Bryce Harper with two-run triple, walk in first two trips to plate at Bowie (updated twice)

BOWIE, Md. - Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has continued to look ready to return to the big league club as he rehabs from bursitis in his left knee. HarperBowieTall.jpgHarper walked in the first inning against the Bowie pitcher Devin Jones. He scored from first on a Justin Bloxom double one batter later to give Double-A Harrisburg a 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Harper tripled to just left of center field. The ball rolled past the defender, scoring two runs as Harrisburg upped its advantage to 3-0. Harper later scored as the Senators scored five runs in the second inning to lead 6-0. He scored two runs on a walk and a triple in his first two plate appearances with a pair of RBIs, running with ease during each opportunity. He also made a catch in left field on a fly ball off the bat of Seth Loman. Update: In the third inning, and in his third trip to the plate (1 hour, 10 minutes into the game), Harper singled to right field to load the bases. He ended up at third when the inning ended. Harrisburg led 8-2 heading to the bottom of the third. Update II: Harper popped to the third baseman in foul territory in the fifth and struck out in the seventh. He is 2-for-4. The Senators led 11-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh. Harper left the game after six innings because the game went so long. "He is fine, just a long game", according to Senators public relations director Terry Byrom. Harper finished 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, a single, a walk, a strikeout and two RBIs. He had five plate appearances with his last at-bat in the seventh inning.
