Orioles surrender another home run (O's down 3-2)

You can add Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall to the list of players who have sent baseballs bouncing on Eutaw St. Chisenhall crushed a 92 mph fastball from Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez in the second inning to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead. Estimated distance: 430 feet. This is the 70th home run to land on Eutaw St. and the 42nd by an opponent. It's the fourth this year and the fifth ever by an Indians player. The most recent was by Asdrubal Cabrera on June 29, 2012. Chisenhall had never faced Gonzalez before tonight. Gonzalez isn't on his game early. He allowed two singles in a 22-pitch first inning and gave up the home run and a single to Drew Stubbs with two outs in the second. T.J. McFarland figures to be the long man tonight out of the bullpen. Will he be needed? Gonzalez struck out Michael Bourn on his 50th pitch to end the second inning. The Orioles have surrendered 111 home runs this season, most in the majors. The Astros are next with 101 going into tonight. Gonzalez has allowed one in each of his last four starts and 12 this season in 14 outings. The Orioles have won their last 10 home games started by Gonzalez dating back to Aug. 10, 2012. According to STATS, the streak is tied with eight others for the fourth-longest by an Orioles starter since 1954. Mike Flanagan started 16 straight home wins from July 17, 1982-May 17, 1983 and 15 straight from June 4, 1979-May 7, 1980. Mike Cuellar started 14 straight home wins from June 20, 1970-April 18, 1971. Nate McLouth and Manny Machado had back-to-back singles in the first inning, but the Orioles couldn't score. Nick Markakis bounced into a 1-6-3 double play and Adam Jones lined to third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall. Machado has 110 hits this season, second in the majors. He's halfway to his 34th multi-hit game. Down on the farm, Nolan Reimold followed his 3-for-6 performance yesterday for Double-A Bowie with a triple in his first at-bat tonight. Update: Ryan Flaherty's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the second gave the Orioles a 2-1 lead. Flaherty extended his hitting streak to seven games. He's 11-for-23 with three homers and six RBIs. Update II: Cleveland tied the game on doubles by Michael Brantley and Chisenhall in the fourth, and they took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on Mike Aviles' leadoff home run. So, that's 112 home runs allowed by the Orioles this season. The Orioles are 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position through four innings. They've stranded three runners. Down on the farm, Henry Urrutia is batting third and playing right field tonight for Triple-A Norfolk in his first game in the International League. Brian Roberts is the designated hitter, as planned. Jake Arrieta is on the mound.
