Can the Orioles break out of their RISP slump tonight? (Plus a take on first inning incident)

Let's get the runners in scoring position stat out of the way first: The Orioles went 0-for-11 yesterday with RISP, 2-for-29 over the last two games, 3-for-37 in the Chicago series and are batting just .109 (7-for-64) over the last seven games with RISP. Over the last 15 games, the Orioles are batting .174 with RISP and are 7-8 in those games, going 3-6 in the nine games in the stretch decided by two runs or less. Has to get better, right? It should come as no surprise when you see those numbers that the Orioles aren't scoring many runs lately. Over the last six games they have scored in order - three, four, three, four, four and two runs. That is six consecutive games of four runs or less, the second longest streak of the year. The O's went seven in a row with four or fewer runs from June 30 to July 7. The O's have scored four or less in 10 of the last 13 games. On the year, the Orioles are the American League's third-highest scoring team with 667 runs and average 4.7 per game. But the last six games they average 3.3 runs per game. The Yankees by the way, have been putting up big runs on offense lately. They scored six runs or more for six straight games until Sunday's 4-3 win over Boston. New York has scored 50 runs the last seven games. Tonight the Orioles try to beat a strugling CC Sabathia who is 4-3 with an ERA of 6.88 since the All-Star break. He is 2-1 with a 4.67 ERA this year against the Orioles. Do the O's get to him tonight and break out of their recent offensive funk? What the heck was that?: That was an interesting end to the last of the first with Buck Showalter, it appeared, being held back by umpires behind home plate in an apparent argument with Yankees manager Joe Girardi. The incident didn't last long, but it was long enough for some players to spill out of both dugouts and it looked pretty heated from this seat. Fans watching the MASN telecast - which we get in the press box, but not with audio - felt that this started with Girardi barking at Orioles third base coach Bobby Dickerson and several have speculated that Dickerson was trying to steal Yankees signs and that Girardi said something to Dickerson about that. It created a brief, but wild scene at Camden Yards and added even more spice to the latest Orioles-Yankees series. If this had to do with an attempt at sign stealing, don't all coaches look to do that? Maybe the Yankees need better signs or a better way of hiding them. If that is what that was all about.
