Chris Davis homers and drives in four as O's beat Cleveland

Chris Davis continued his four-game run of torrid hitting tonight with a two-run double and two-run homer as the Orioles beat Cleveland 8-4 to even this series at a win each. The Orioles finished with 14 hits and now have recorded five straight games of 12 or more for the first time since they had a club-record seven in a row from May 26-June 1, 2004. The Orioles have scored 38 runs their last five games. A crowd of 39,602 looked on as the Orioles moved to 24-22 and avoided falling back to the .500 mark for the first time since April 27. The Orioles ended a five-game home losing streak and are now 10-11 at the Yard. Davis had a three-homer game on Tuesday and tonight, he drove in four runs. Davis' two-run double in the third gave the Orioles a 3-0 lead. Nelson Cruz had put the O's ahead 1-0 with his 15th homer in the second inning. Cruz has hit three homers his past four games and five in nine games. Cleveland went ahead 4-3 on Bud Norris in the fourth. Jason Giambi's three-run homer to left, which just cleared the fence, capped that rally. But Davis moved the O's back into the lead with a two-run homer in the fifth. It was his seventh of the year and made it 5-4. Over his last four games, Davis is 8-for-16 with two doubles, four homers and 10 RBIs. Adam Jones went 3-for-4 tonight with two doubles and three runs scored. Nick Markakis went 4-for-5 with a double to raise his average to .306. With his single in the third, Markakis moved past Paul Blair into sole possession of eighth on the O's all time hits list. He now has 1,429 hits. Norris threw 110 pitches over six innings to get the win. He gave up six hits and four runs, all coming in that one inning. Norris is now 3-4 with an ERA of 3.83.
