Chris Tillman looks for a bounceback season in 2016

As the Orioles look to improve on their starting rotation's performance from last year, one area that could help would be improvement from current pitchers over their seasons from 2015.

From 2012-14, Chris Tillman went a combined 38-16 with an ERA of 3.42. In those years, he ranked tied for 11th in the American League in wins and was 15th in ERA. Then he went 11-11 with an ERA of 4.99 last year.

Tillman did not get specific recently when asked at FanFest what exactly went wrong during his 2015 season.

"Didn't pitch as good or execute," he said. "That is what it comes down to. I have to get better at that to get back where I was. I like where I'm at right now.

"The work is never done. It is a work in progress, whether you have 10 years in or two years in. The answers are not right in front of you. You have to go out and get it done."

Tillman said he is not one to spend much time following the Orioles' offseason moves.

"Tell you the truth, I don't really watch TV or pick or a phone or a computer during the offseason," he said. "I'm more outdoors. I keep in touch with my teammates and that is enough. They keep me posted.

"It is hard to say (how the team looks right now). We don't even have a full roster yet. In the next couple of weeks, the picture will become a little more clear. (Mark) Trumbo hit 22 homers, I think, in Seattle. Tough place to hit homers and that should translate well to Camden."

During a FanFest interview, Tillman was asked about the offer the Orioles had made to Chris Davis.

"We've known as players that the money is there," he said. "It's never been a question that it is there. It's about the right guy at the right time. I think hopefully they'll prove that this time around."

Tillman also enjoyed getting reacquainted with the Orioles fans at the Baltimore Convention Center.

"What makes it cool is we get to interact with the fans, kind of unlike during the season. We get a feel for how they are feeling about the season. Players look forward to coming here. Good to see the turnout that we did, being this is right before Christmas," he said.
