Some postgame comments from the Orioles after their extra-innings loss to New York. Jake Arrieta on settling down after giving up two runs in the first: "Just made good pitches. Even the slider to Granderson (that he homered on) wasn't a bad pitch, he's swinging the bat well now. Had to bear down and make pitches when I needed to. I kept us in the game. The walks in the first was really the only thing I was upset about." Arrieta on the pitch to Granderson in the first: "It was a slider, down and away. He is swinging well and put a good swing on it." Adam Jones on the tough loss: "We played our (butts) off, but at the end it wasn't enough. We went down swinging. We have them 14 more times and our goal is to whoop their (butt) 14 more times." On throwing out Derek Jeter at home in the tenth: "Tag and throw it, pretty simple. Who cares about the cutoff man in that situation. If I one-hopped it, he would have been safe." Derrek Lee on the Yankees rally in the 11th inning: "They hit the ball in some perfect spots. A tough loss, we played so hard and battled back. They just hit some balls in the right, no I guess the wrong spots, just out of our reach. It seemed like everything went their way today. They didn't hit balls hard, but in the right spots. That's baseball. It will turn and we will get the breaks." Lee on losing two versus New York: "You want to win series, especially at home. We didn't do that, so it's disappointing. We have to turn the page, regroup on the off day and be ready to go on Tuesday." Mark Reynolds on the tough defeat: "It sucks to lose a game where we fought back like that. It's still a loss, but something to build on, but it's still a loss. We have to take a day off, then regroup." Reynolds on his two-run homer in the seventh inning that ended an 0-for-22 stretch: "I just got enough of it. It was a little warmer day today with balls flying better. It kind of gets me out of that funk." A couple more notes: The Orioles fall to 0-2 in extra innings while the Yankees are 2-2. ... The two-day series attendance was 64,105. ...
