TAMPA - Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy gave up three runs over four innings today in his longest spring outing to date. The Orioles lead the Yankees 4-3 in the seventh.

Bundy allowed four hits and three runs with three walks and one strikeout. Bundy threw 62 pitches, 41 for strikes. He gave up two runs over five innings in his first two games. In his past two, he has allowed nine hits and eight runs over six innings, leaving his spring ERA at 7.36.

"It was better than the last one, which went just two innings," Bundy said. "Happy to get the pitch count up there. A changeup, I was trying to go away to Gary Sanchez and it came back over the middle, but was down. I was happy overall with the way I threw."

Bundy said he is using spring outings to work on some things.

"I'm throwing more two-seamers now than I ever have last year and I'm really happy with that pitch so far in spring. I'm working on changeups to righties. And that hasn't worked for me so far this spring," he said.

Bundy has used his cutter/slider in spring games and said he threw eight or nine today. He is planning to use the pitch once the regular season begins.

"I think I bounced a couple, but that's better than leaving them up. It's getting better slowly," he said. "I plan on using it during the season. We haven't talked too much about how much and if we're going to limit using it."

The day has been mostly quiet so far on defense for Pedro Álvarez, making his Grapefruit League debut in right field. He played there in a B game in Sarasota yesterday. Álvarez has never played in the outfield in a regular season game in the majors. He caught one ball hit to him by Starlin Casto in the last of the sixth. The Orioles media was interviewing Bundy at the time and we were told it was a pretty routine play.

Before today's game, Orioles manager Buck Showalter was asked about Álvarez and what to expect from him today in right field.

"There's only one way (to know) ... it's kind of what do you expect from Steve Pearce at second base today?" Showalter said. "What do you expect from Mark Trumbo in right field? What do you expect from (Trey) Mancini in right field? There's only one way to find out.

"He's really engaged in it. He knows it could mean a lot to him and his career. He sees some guys, for instance what it did for Mark last year and what it's done for a lot of guys ... He's really ... embraced it.

"I told him regardless from what this year brought for him with us or somebody else, he really had to think long and hard about embracing that. It would open up a lot of avenues to him. Especially, it would keep him in the lineup."

The Yankees took a 3-0 lead on the Orioles and Bundy in the third. Jacoby Ellsbury's single made it 1-0 and a two-out two-run double by Gary Sanchez expanded the lead to 3-0.

The Orioles tied it up in the fourth. Craig Gentry, who went 2-for-2 on Friday and is hitting .323, doubled to lead off the frame. After a pair of strikeouts, Álvarez singled to right for the first Orioles run. Batting next, third baseman Chris Johnson hit a two-run homer to left off CC Sabathia to tie the game. He hit his first spring homer on a 1-1 pitch.

Álvarez gave the Orioles a 4-3 lead in the seventh when he homered off Tommy Layne.
