Dylan Bundy pitches five shutout innings today at Hagerstown

Dylan Bundy retired the first 12 batters he faced today and pitched five shutout innings at Hagerstown this afternoon to keep his ERA at 0.00 now through 30 professional innings. Bundy was facing a pretty good hitting club today. Hagerstown, with a 23-16 record, began the day leading the South Atlantic League in homers, second in runs scored and fourth in batting average. Today, Bundy may even get his first win as a pro as Delmarva leads 3-0 after five frames. Hagerstown's J.P. Ramirez made a bid to become the first player to homer off Bundy when he drove a ball to the right-field wall to end the last of the second. Shorebirds right fielder Brenden Webb made a nice catch to get the out. Bundy fanned three in getting the game's first 12 hitters out and then he pitched out of a jam in the last of the fifth. He gave up a leadoff double, a sac bunt and hit a batter to put Suns runners at first and third. But Bundy got out of that jam by getting a strikeout and ground out to end the frame. Bundy today: 5 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 4K. Bundy on the year now: 30 IP, 5H, 2R, 0ER, 2BB, 40K. Opponent batters are now just 5-for-94 on the year vs. the Orioles' 2011 top draft pick for an average of .053. Williams Louico replaced him today to start the last of the sixth inning. Bundy's next start is projected to come at home in Salisbury on Saturday night. Update: Bundy did get his first pro win as the Shorebirds won 3-1.
