Gonzalez signs for 2015

The Orioles have gone from 11 unsigned arbitration-eligible players to only two. Miguel Gonzalez agreed to a $3.275 million deal tonight, according to sources, which leaves closer Zach Britton and outfielder Alejandro De Aza without contracts for the upcoming season. miguel-gonzalez-orange.jpgGonzalez, 30, submitted $3.95 million when the sides exchanged figures last month and the Orioles countered at $2.5 million. He made $529,000 last season. Though he's often overlooked in discussions regarding the rotation, Gonzalez posted a 2.19 ERA in his final 11 starts last season. He registered six consecutive quality starts from Aug. 7 to Sept. 13, the longest streak by an Oriole in 2014. Gonzalez went 10-9 with a 3.23 ERA in 27 games last season, surrendering three earned runs or fewer in 23 of his starts. He was 5-2 with a 2.78 ERA in 12 starts against the American League East. Talks continue with Britton, but nothing is imminent. There doesn't seem to be any sort of movement regarding De Aza. Britton submitted $4.2 million and the Orioles countered at $2.2 million. He made $521,500 last season. De Aza submitted $5.65 million and the Orioles countered at $5 million. He made $4.25 million last season. CBSSports.com first reported Gonzalez's deal.
