Guthrie through six (updated)

For the fourth time in the last 21 games, an Orioles starting pitcher has completed six innings. Have yourself a night, Jeremy Guthrie. Guthrie has allowed two runs, both in the fifth inning, and seven hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. He's thrown 97 pitches, and he's coming back out for the seventh. In his last two starts, Guthrie had allowed 12 runs and 14 hits, with seven walks, over 10 innings. Update: Guthrie made it through seven. He allowed a two-out single to No. 9 hitter Marco Scutaro, who inexplicably tried to steal second base with Jacoby Ellsbury at the plate. Matt Wieters threw him out with room to spare - on a curveball from Guthrie. Guthrie threw 110 pitches 69 for strikes. Jim Johnson is warming and will pitch the eighth. Tonight's attendance: 32,314 Down on the farm, Ryan Adams hit his fourth home run tonight for Triple-A Norfolk. He's serving as the Tides' designated hitter again. Oliver Drake's been on a roll, but he had a rough night with Double-A Bowie. Drake, who pitched at the Naval Academy, allowed four runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings. Single-A Frederick shortstop Manny Machado is 2-for-3 with a double and RBI to raise his average to .242.
