The Orioles public relations staff put out some interesting notes on J.J Hardy today.
Did you know his nine homers in June is one off the major league lead for the month. Prince Fielder, Paul Konerko and Carlos Pena have hit 10 to lead MLB in June homers.
If Hardy hits one more this month, he will tie Miguel Tejada's team record for most homers in a month by an Orioles' shortstop. Tejada hit 10 in August of 2007.
Hardy, who has hit five homers over his last 11 games, has now homered in nine consecutive series.
Nine of his 11 homers have been solo shots with one two-run blast and one grand slam. He has hit six homers at home and five on the road. The Orioles are 7-4 when he hits one out.
He has hit nine of the 11 against right-handed pitching.
Since May 21, Hardy leads major league shortstops in homers (9) and slugging (.623). The Orioles are the only team in baseball to have 10 or more homers by their shortstop and third baseman. Mark Reynolds has 14 homers to lead all MLB third sackers.
Meanwhile, in 17 games now as a leadoff hitter, Hardy is batting .342 with seven homers, seven doubles and 13 RBIs.
