Henry Urrutia expected to return to Double-A Bowie's lineup tomorrow (Reimold in Bowie lineup)

BOWIE, Md. - The Double-A Bowie Baysox are hoping to open up a six-game homestand tonight at Prince George's Stadium against Harrisburg. Nolan Reimold is expected to begin his injury rehab assignment with the Baysox tonight. But as of 3:50 p.m., a steady rain is falling, the tarp is on the field and there will not be any on-field batting practice. If the game is played, there is a chance that the Orioles could decide to hold Reimold out to keep a player coming back from a hamstring injury off of a potentially slick field. No decision on the game or Reimold's status has been made at this hour. Reimold hit .188 in 31 games this year for the Orioles, but has not played since May 11. He is here in the clubhouse and so is O's special assistant Terry Crowley to oversee Reimold's rehab assignment. Update: Tonight's Bowie lineup is out and Reimold is batting third as the DH. It's still raining, but if they can get tonight's game in, Reimold is in the lineup for the Baysox. Reimold played in 50 games for Bowie in 2007 and in 139 in 2008 when he batted .284 with 25 homers and 84 RBIs for the Baysox. In his last game in this stadium, on Sept. 4, 2008 in the playoffs against Akron, Reimold hit three home runs. Meanwhile, the Baysox are hopeful that Cuban outfielder Henry Urrutia, who missed a three-game series over the weekend due to a lower back injury, will return to their lineup tomorrow night. Urrutia saw Orioles team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens and has been given the clearance to return to play. "He just has some soreness in his back," Bowie manager Gary Kendall said. "It was more of a precautionary thing. He noticed some tightness the last day in Reading (last Thursday). It was a drizzly, rainy night. When we got on the bus, it kind of stiffened up on him. "The organization thought with an off day coming up on Monday they'd give him those three (weekend days off) and then the off day, come in today and re-evaluate him. "He saw Dr. Wilckens and everything checks out. He's going to be OK. He won't start tonight, but hopefully if everything goes well today in the cage then he'll be OK tomorrow." Urrutia is batting .355 with 14 doubles, six homers, 31 RBIs and an OPS of .958 in 43 games. When he does return, he will do so with a six-game hitting streak, during which he is 11-for-26. He is the current Eastern League batting leader and ranks third in OPS, fourth in slugging and fifth in OBP. A few fans have asked about Urrutia's defense. Kendall said it has improved since he joined the Baysox. Can he be at least major league average if he does the get called to Baltimore? "I see a guy that based on the players that I've had, that with work, could go play the outfield in the major leagues and do a good job. He's making progress. He's improving," Kendall said. Urrutia has played mostly in right field with Bowie, but it looks like he will start to see more time in left and Kendall said Urrutia will probably play in left once in each of the next two series if his back allows.
