The Orioles placed reliever Tommy Hunter on the 15-day disabled list today with a strained left groin. The move is retroactive to yesterday.
To take Hunter's place, the Orioles recalled reliever Preston Guilmet from Triple-Norfolk. He's in the clubhouse and available to pitch tonight.
Brad Brach remains with the club despite working four innings last night.
Hunter, 27, is 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA in 16 1/3 innings. He's recorded 11 saves in 14 chances, and has allowed 31 baserunners.
Hunter first felt the discomfort in his groin yesterday in Pittsburgh and he wasn't available to pitch last night.
Zach Britton appeared to unseat Hunter as closer after he recorded a save Thursday night in Kansas City in his first career opportunity.
Guilmet, 26, has appeared in two games for the Orioles, striking out three batters over 1 2/3 scoreless innings. He's 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 15 games with Norfolk.
Guilmet was optioned on May 13, but he's eligible to be recalled because he's replacing an injured player.
Manager Buck Showalter is using his left-handed lineup against Indians right-hander Justin Masterson, who is working on short rest after throwing 70 pitches Sunday.

Single-A Frederick catcher Steel Russell, son of Orioles bench coach John Russell, underwent surgery today to repair a broken right thumb. A screw was inserted in the thumb and he's expected to miss six weeks of the Carolina League season.
Russell broke the thumb in the second inning of a May 13 games against the Potomac Nationals and continued to catch Parker Bridwell's near no-hitter. Bridwell allowed a single with one out in the ninth.
