NEW YORK - The tarp is on the Yankee Stadium infield and it's raining hard. Orioles who were playing catch in left field had to sprint to the dugout as it intensified.
That's the extent of my weather update.
Chris Davis wasn't in the clubhouse while it opened to the media. Manager Buck Showalter will have to explain why the first baseman isn't in tonight's lineup.
Hyun Soo Kim also is out of the lineup while recovering from a right hamstring strain.
"It has gotten better," Kim said through interpreter Danny Lee. "I'm still recovering, so I have to kind of go out there and check on a daily basis how it's going to progress."
Kim must be ready to play by Wednesday or he's headed to the disabled list.
"The goal is to be ready by Wednesday, but nothing works in a perfect fashion," said Kim, who strained his hamstring in the first inning of the final game before the All-Star break.
"I'll definitely try my best to get ready to play and we'll see how it goes and decide by then."
Kim has sustained a similar injury in Korea, but he came back after a few days.
"I agree that this is taking longer than I thought because I never have taken a long break in my career," he said. "I didn't think it was going to be this long."
