Is the Orioles' offense starting to come around?

It has only been five games. We've thought before this year that the Orioles' offense was starting to show signs of life. Maybe this time it is for real. They are not exactly mashing the ball, but the Orioles have produced 10 hits or more in four of the last five games. They have 55 hits and a team average of .293 in the stretch, even including being shutout on Friday night. The offense the last five games: Tuesday versus Seattle: 20-for-53, seven runs, win Wednesday versus Seattle: 10-for-30, four runs, win Thursday versus Seattle: 10-for-39, two runs, win Friday at Tampa Bay: 4-for-30, 0 runs, loss Saturday at Tampa Bay: 11-for-36, six runs, win Totals: 55-for-188, .293 average, 19 runs, 4-1 record During the five games, here are how some of the hitters have fared: Fox: 2-for-6, homer Guerrero: 6-for-15, one RBI Hardy: 8-for-20, three RBIs Jones: 10-for-21, three doubles, triple, six RBIs Lee: 4-for-20, two doubles, two RBIs Markakis: 5-for-18 Wieters: 6-for-18 The mini surge on offense has raised the team batting average on the season from .233 to .242. The Orioles had five extra-base hits, with three doubles and two homers on Saturday, the most they've had since producing five on April 13 against New York. The Orioles had ten hits or more just five times in the season's first 20 games. They have done it 10 times over the last 18 games, a better trend of course. Again, 19 runs is not even an average of four per game in the stretch, but the .293 team average is encouraging and maybe a sign that finally the offense could get better.
