Jason Garcia goes on DL (and Orioles lineup)

The Orioles placed Rule 5 pitcher Jason Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis and recalled pitcher Mike Wright from Triple-A Norfolk.

The DL move is retroactive to May 11.

Wright would make his major league debut if he gets into a game.

In 91 career minor league games, Wright is 32-21 with a 3.99 ERA in 477 2/3 innings. He's wearing No. 59.

Wright was selected in the third round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina.

Hunter Harvey and his father, Bryan, walked past me this afternoon while I devoured lunch and talked Orioles with fans on the Hard Rock Cafe's outdoor pier.

Harvey's MRI on his right elbow is scheduled for this afternoon. He left Sunday's start at extended spring training after two innings due to some tightness in the elbow and the Orioles summoned him to Baltimore, where he'll be examined by team orthopedist Dr. Michael Jacobs.

Harvey didn't sound too concerned, saying it was just a precaution and he's expecting good news. You never know how these things will turn out, and Harvey was shut down last July at Single-A Delmarva with a strained right flexor mass, but at least he was optimistic this afternoon.

Harvey, 20, was at extended spring training while recovering from a slight fracture in his right shin. The Orioles were close to assigning him to an affiliate, most likely Single-A Frederick, before Sunday's elbow issue.

Baseball America ranks Harvey as the Orioles' second-best prospect behind Double-A Bowie pitcher Dylan Bundy, who was diagnosed with a strained flexor mass before undergoing ligament-reconstructive surgery on his elbow in 2013.

Harvey was 7-5 with a 3.18 ERA in 17 starts with Delmarva last season. The Orioles selected him in the first round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Bandys (N.C.) High School.
