Jimenez turns in shortest outing of season (O's lose 9-0)

Ubaldo Jimenez has no hard feelings toward the Indians after they failed to re-sign him as a free agent. In turn, the Indians didn't make it easy on Jimenez today at Camden Yards. Jimenez failed to record an out in the fifth inning and was charged with five runs and four hits. He issued five walks, tying his season high, and hit a batter. This is the shortest start of the season for Jimenez, who suddenly has lost his May magic. He permitted one run in 19 2/3 innings over his first three starts this month, but has surrendered 10 runs over nine innings in the last two. The Indians sent nine batters to the plate in the fifth, beginning with Carlos Santana's leadoff walk. Does anything good happen after a leadoff walk? Anything at all? The first run scored on Justin Seller's infield hit and Jonathan Schoop's throwing error on the attempted force at second base. Mike Aviles' RBI single increased the lead to 2-0 and forced Jimenez out of the game. Former Indians farmhand T.J. McFarland hit Michael Brantley with the bases loaded to force in a run and gave up an RBI single to Lonnie Chisenhall. The fifth run scored on Ryan Raburn's double play, putting the Orioles down 5-0. Jimenez threw 99 pitches before exiting the game. This is no way to get revenge on the Indians. Schoop singled in the fifth inning - his fifth hit in his last 32 at-bats. J.J. Hardy walked with two outs, but Adam Jones struck out on a pitch away and in the dirt. Update: It only got worse for the Orioles. McFarland allowed a two-run double to Raburn in the seventh, and Santana hit a two-run homer off Brad Brach. Indians 9, Orioles 0. Update II: Game over. The Orioles lose to the Indians 9-0, ending their streak of six runs or more and 12 hits or more at five consecutive games.
