Johnson: Harper out for Sunday, hopeful to join team in New York

Manager Davey Johnson said during his news conference following the Nationals' 9-2 win over the Marlins that left fielder Bryce Harper aggravated his hip injury during batting practice and will go to see team physician Dr. Wiemi Douoguih. Johnson said it is likely Harper will join the team in New York if the hip is not seriously injured. Harper was scratched just prior to first pitch after injuring the hip in batting practice. "He aggravated hitting, swinging," Johnson said on MASN's "Nats Xtra." "He comes and hits early and then he hits BP. He had a great BP and then he comes back in here and hits more and he aggravated it. I think he has some inflammation in that hip that he is going to see Dr. Wiemi tomorrow. Hopefully they will figure out what it is and treat it and he will meet us in New York." The Nationals have the bench to be able to sub for Harper for Sunday and into New York. But it is a concern that Harper had to be lifted from Saturday's game. The hip has been an issue for Harper for a while now. It is now the diagnosis from Dr. Douoguih that will determine the severity of the injury and how that will affect Harper the remainder of his season.
