Kevin Millwood updates his status

Kevin Millwood has been on the disabled list since July 6th with a right forearm strain. He has not pitched since lasting just one inning July 5 at Detroit. But he says he is making progress and expects he could come off the DL when he is eligible to. He was encouraged by the bullpen session he had at Camden Yards on Friday. "Everything is feeling a lot better. I threw on the side yesterday and everything went well and I'm feeling good today. Just trying to get ready to come off the DL. "I felt better (yesterday). My mechanics kind of stunk but that's to be expected after time off like that. All in all, I felt a lot better than expected," Millwood said. "I don't think I have to wait (to come off the DL), everything is going on track and there hasn't been any setback." Millwood is 2-8, 5.77 on the year in 18 starts. He had an ERA of 3.89 at the end of May, but his ERA is 9.89 in seven starts since then. "I don't know if it was health, but hopefully feeling a little bit better will help my mechanics and get my arm back in the right slot. There are still things to iron out mechanics wise. Some from rust more than anything. But being able to cut it loose and extend should be a big help." Millwood knows his name has come up in trade rumors and could again over the next few weeks, but he's trying to block that out right now. "You know, until Mr. MacPhail calls me and tells me something has happened, there is not much I can do about it, so I'll just continue to prepare to get ready to pitch every five days here."
